The
Background
The Green News was founded in late 2002 by students involved in EarthTeam's Youth Coalition. Please click here to see issues from 2002 onward. The Green News was designed as a monthly online environmental magazine written by and for teens. The Green News was designed to be a place where youth can voice their thoughts, poetry, art, photography and more about the environment and have them seen by other youth and adults in the Bay Area and across the nation. In 2008 a Green News website was added with the goal of the Green News becoming the environmental voice of Bay Area teens.
The Green News soon added an all color Annual Anthology of student work and in 2009 began coordinating Visuals and Voices - An eco-art, photography, poetry and writing contest. Click here to view the latest V&V flyer as well as the winners of 2010. In late 2010, the Green News started developing a network of environmental clubs. We work with individual students, teachers, environmental clubs and more.
