Northgate High: Cleaning their School and the Environment!

By Sarah Zahedi
Grade 11
Northgate HS
Walnut Creek, CA

Last month, hundreds of Northgate High School students devoted their Saturday morning to cleaning up and beautifying the school campus. John McMorris, the principal of Northgate High, collaborated with the student body government and a group of assiduous volunteers to set up the event. The diverse group of volunteers included vibrant parents, devoted students, and an assemblage of other Walnut Creekians who simply wished to lend a hand.

Everyone worked with care and diligence, as they dusted, scrubbed, and vacuumed almost every inch of the school.

They all worked together in an effort to revamp not only their school, but the surrounding environment as well. In addition to washing windows, scraping gum, sweeping floors, and cleaning carpets, Northgate students planted trees and flowers in the terrain around the school.

The cleanup is not technically over just yet. McMorris continues to stress the need for cleanliness on the campus. He encourages students to make sure that the school stays spotless throughout the year. The annual Campus Clean-Up at Northgate was very successful this year, and is hopefully going to continue to be for many years to come!
