Since Chinese/Vietnamese/Lunar New Year is coming up, what kind of things can you do to reduce your carbon footprint? (Since this is a time when people travel a lot and use fireworks!)

People can recycle or reuse little red envelopes that they recieve on Chinese/Vietnamese/Lunar New Year.

You can carpool with friends/family or take public transportation depending on where you're going.

Instead of having a firework celebration with your family alone, why don't you round up a few Chinese, Vietnamese, and other Lunar New Year celebrating neighbors and have a big party (with fireworks, of course). That way, you can get to know each other better as neighbors and reduce your carbon footprint by launching ONE set of fireworks for many families (instead of the 5 or 6 that could have been used had you celebrated separately).

People can save the red envelopes they receive and reuse it for next year, instead of throwing it away and buying more.

For the red evelopes, I reuse them and sometimes make paper sculptures with them.
